Amber Banks is an attorney with the Legal Aid Justice Center's Youth Justice Program, where she works with young people and families on education, civil rights, disability rights, and youth justice issues. Her work spans direct representation, policy advocacy, community education, and broader efforts to create systemic change so that young people can stay in school, remain with their families, and avoid involvement with the criminal legal system. As part of her work at LAJC, Amber helps teach the Youth Advocacy Clinic at the University of Virginia School of Law and serves as co-chair of the Virginia Education Law Task Force. Before joining LAJC, she was a Staff Attorney at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. Amber is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School, the University of Virginia, and Fairfax County Public Schools.
