Palma Elyse Pustilnik is the Senior Staff Attorney in the Charlottesville office of Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, where she has practiced for the past seventeen and a half years. Ms. Pustilnik is a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Virginia, and of the University of Georgia School of Law. The primary focus of Ms. Pustilnik’s practice is the representation of survivors of domestic and sexual violence in both court and administrative Title IX proceedings. Ms. Pustilnik is currently serving on the Judicial Education Subcommittee of the Access to Justice Committee and on the Subcommittee on Domestic Violence Victims of the Committee of Self-Represented Litigants of the Access to Justice Commission of the Virginia Supreme Court. Prior to that, she was the representative from the 16th Circuit to the Virginia State Bar Council for two terms, President of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association (CABA), and chair of its Women’s Section for several years. She is also a member of the Thomas Jefferson Inn of Court, the Albemarle-Charlottesville Domestic Violence Council, and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Sexual Assault Response Team. She has presented numerous State Bar approved Continuing Legal Education programs at CABA, at the annual Virginia Statewide Legal Aid Conference, at the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, at Virginia Legal Aid Society, at the University of Mary Washington, at national programs on Title IX, and at the Thomas Jefferson Inn of Court. Ms. Pustilnik is the 2019 recipient of the Virginia State Bar Legal Aid Award, and she is the mother of two, an avid fan of live, local music, and she volunteers her time with Service Dogs of Virginia, the Women’s Center at UVA, the UVA Alumni Association, and other Charlottesville organizations.
