Shelsy joined the Legal Aid Justice Center as a Youth Justice Program Organizer in 2021. As an experienced organizer and policy advocate, she has worked on local, state, national, and international issues like K-12 education funding, health outcomes for immigrant communities, and equitable education services for linguistically marginalized students. Originally from Lima, Peru, Shelsy considers herself a lifelong Virginian and loves advocating for changes that make tangible differences in the lives of priority populations. She holds a B.A. from William & Mary in Public Policy with a concentration in Educational Policy and Equity.
