Speaker Bio
Robin Jackson, MPC
I have spent the past 22 years of my career supporting and advocating for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) in various job roles throughout this time. I was employed by the local domestic violence shelter in Charlottesville, Virginia for 17 years as the Legal Advocate/Outreach Counselor as well as served in a supervisory role. Throughout my time at the domestic violence shelter, I created and chaired the Albemarle/Charlottesville Domestic Violence Council as well as initiated and co-chaired the Monticello Area Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team. I also was responsible for initiating and implementing the Lethality Assessment Program by partnering with local law enforcement agencies, which entailed law enforcement utilizing an evidence-based tool to determine whether a victim of IPV is in high danger of getting killed by her partner. If the victim screened in as high danger, the officer would then call the domestic violence shelter hotline and services can be put into place immediately. In my current role as Assistant Program Coordinator for Albemarle County Victim Witness Assistance Program, I continue to work closely with survivors of IPV in accessing legal remedies that hold abusers accountable and offer legal protections for safety. I have been deemed an expert witness in IPV in Albemarle Circuit Court, and I have trained thousands of allied professionals and community members across the state of Virginia over the years on the dynamics of abuse.
