Lauren obtained her B.S. from James Madison University before attending the University of Richmond School of law where she graduated with her J.D. in 2017. After taking the bar, Lauren worked as a public defender in her hometown on Martinsville, VA for several years before moving to Richmond with her now-husband Chase. Lauren got her start in expungement and sealing work at the Legal Aid Justice Center where she ran expungement clinics, consulted with community members about their potential eligibility for sealing and/or expungement, and helped dozens of individual clients file for expungement across the state. She has now transitioned to working at the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission as the Expungement and Sealing Resource Attorney for all court-appointed attorneys and Public Defenders across Virginia.
