Sara Tandy, Esq. serves as the inaugural Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for the University of Richmond School of Law.
In this role, Sara works directly on all matters concerning students from groups historically underrepresented in legal education and the legal profession writ large. They also work to ensure that the law school's curriculum, policies, and programs align with its mission to prepare students to become lawyers who can navigate a diverse, multicultural world.
Before joining Richmond Law, Sara was an employment attorney with Williams Mullen and with a boutique government contracting firm – providing employment counsel on a range of legal matters as well as advising clients on best practices for creating healthy, inclusive workplaces.
Sara is a board member and current president of the Virginia LGBTQ+ Bar Association and serves on the Virginia State Bar Diversity Conference Board of Governors.
Sara earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law and an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is certified by the Society of Human Resource Management as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
