Description
Session Summary:
States around the country are quickly adopting Medicaid 1115 demonstration waivers for nutrition services. We will hear from leaders working on the front lines in Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina to successfully implement and sustain their states’ waivers. They offer tremendous lessons for Virginia as we begin down the path of designing and advocating for our own Food is Medicine policy changes.
Session objectives:
- Provide a high-level overview of the current state of 1115 waiver adoption for nutrition services at the state level
- Educate attendees about basic state and federal policy options for advancing Food is Medicine initiatives
- Share detailed information about the 1115 waiver process in North Carolina, New York, and Massachusetts
- Encourage participants to consider how these lessons can be applied to Virginia and how they might contribute to the process
