Tyler Agee serves as the Director of Community Health for the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System. In his role at VCU Health, Tyler designs and implements strategic programs, community partnerships, and high-impact investments that seek to address the social drivers and determinants of health.
Tyler works to ensure that patient and community voices are the drivers of change. As Director, he leverages asset-based community development principles, public health principles, and collaborations that build scale to drive high quality, community-level clinical and non-clinical interventions, and high impact social investments. Tyler knows that transformative change cannot be achieved alone and practices a systems-level, shared approached to community health improvement.
Prior to joining VCU Health, Tyler was the Director of the Community Impact Division at Bon Secours Richmond Health System where he worked to improve the health of individuals, families, and neighborhoods by offsetting the negative effects of the social determinants of health. Tyler served in multiple roles at Bon Secours since joining in 2013, leading clinical teams, implementing innovative healthcare strategies to address identified community needs, and building partnerships and community coalitions.
Tyler holds a bachelor’s degree in health promotion from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University. Tyler is married to Lauren Agee, has a son, Beckett (6), and a daughter, KP (4). In his free time, Tyler enjoys spending time with his family and friends, loves the beauty of the outdoors, and practices mindfulness.
