Rachel Fisher, MS, MPH, RD is a Senior Advisor in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) in the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this role, she advises agency and departmental officials on current physical activity and nutrition science to inform policies and programs related to health promotion and disease prevention. Currently, Rachel co-leads an HHS Food is Medicine initiative to unify and advance collective action. She also serves as a Senior Advisor to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition and works with members to educate, engage, and empower all Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition. In 2022, Rachel served as the HHS Conference Coordinator of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and is now working to implement actions included in the National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. Prior to her work at ODPHP, Rachel spent almost 15 years in the Office of Nutrition Research (formerly the Division of Nutrition Research Coordination) at the National Institutes of Health. Rachel is a registered dietitian and earned a Master of Science and Master of Public Health from the Tufts’ Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
