Elizabeth Borst has been a leader in food access programs and food system partnerships in Virginia for 14 years. As one of the state’s early nutrition incentive practitioners, Elizabeth worked in partnership with Maureen McNamara Best at LEAP to develop Virginia Fresh Match, Virginia’s statewide Nutrition Incentive Network, where she now serves as Director of Advocacy. She is also founder of Virginia Community Food Connections, a Fredericksburg-based local food nonprofit that connects people, producers and communities to increase consumption of Virginia-Grown fruits and vegetables. Elizabeth has started and managed farmers markets and piloted innovative food access programs and community partnerships. She serves in leadership in the Fredericksburg Hunger Action Coalition and is active in the Virginia Food Access Coalition. Through these varied roles, she remains passionate about connecting vulnerable people with available local produce to improve community food security and support family farms. Elizabeth has a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Spotsylvania, VA with her husband, and occasional visits by her 2 adult daughters.
