As President of The Neighborhood Harvest, John Trant provides leadership to a team focused on improving access to nutritious food throughout Coastal Virginia and the Richmond area. A career in distribution led John to multiple locations across the US, before returning to his home state of Virginia to concentrate on food quality, nutrition, and access. The Neighborhood Harvest began as a hydroponic greenhouse growing fresh basil for the wholesale food industry, and followed customer demand into retail home delivery services. As the customer base grew, the product offering expanded as well, with an affinity to sourcing from local and regional farms, and small batch local food artisans. The Neighborhood Harvest utilizes its talented Chef and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to create great tasting nutritionally tailored meals and grocery bundles, distributed through partnerships with agencies associated with DARS and other non-profits. The Neighborhood Harvest is cultivating relationships with community-based organizations, hospitals, and insurance companies dedicated to utilizing healthy local food and nutrition to improve health outcomes. John has a BA from Vanderbilt and an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill.
