After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics in MN and completing her internship in Milwaukee, WI, Monica spent the first part of her career in Food Service Management—including 5 years in School Food Service Management in Albemarle County, VA. While her children were young she ran her own catering business and began volunteering at Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Charlottesville. She was hired by Loaves & Fishes in 2020 at the onset of COVID and continues her work of promoting good nutrition through acquisition of healthy and culturally appropriate foods, easy recipes, and most recently, on-site cooking classes.
