Lesley is the Assistant Clinical Nutrition Manager- Renal Nutrition with the University of Virginia Dialysis Services. In this role, she manages 12 renal dietitians in 12 clinics throughout UVA Dialysis Services in Central Virginia. In addition, she provides direct nutrition care for patients in the Lynchburg, Va Home Dialysis program. Started in 1997 with Dr. Robert S. Lockridge, Lynchburg has the oldest nocturnal home hemodialysis programs in the country. In July 2018, UVA opened an innovative Transitional Start Unit (TSU) to promote education and patient choice to increase the home dialysis program and offer patient’s their best quality of life on dialysis. Most recently, UVA Dialysis since March 2020 has brought a Food Pharmacy TO their dialysis units, providing renal friendly foods including fresh fruits and vegetables to the dialysis patients with need during their dialysis appointments. Six of the 12 units are now providing this program onsite to assure food security and health equity for a very marginalized population. Lesley is also the State Policy Representative for the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a passionate dietitian advocate for food security, school nutrition and access to medical nutrition therapy for any chronic disease state.
